Pandoras Box is Empty

This statement from a Pakistani neighbour of David Lytton (The man on Saddleworth Moor), so shocked me that I am posting it as it is . .... 'Another [neighbour] said that he was a Muslim and that David told him that he had converted in 1996. Now, I don't know whether he said this in view of the treatment meted out to Christians here, as they are made to eat in separate pots from us, Muslims, but he definitely told me that he was a Muslim."

Facebook Pakistan ..... Double Standards
Facebook Pakistan ..... Double Standards

The casual description of Christians as being unclean, and Haram, and not able to use the same eating bowls as Muslims, tells you all you need to know about how they think of us and the 'micro-aggresions' and the persecution Christians face at the hands of Muslims, at least outside the West, and makes it all the more amazing that we give their religion so much latitude.

On the same topic of intolerance and indeed blasphemy, it appears that although they want the western toys, Pakistanis can't handle the responsibility of managing them. That's the only conclusion that we can draw from the demands from Pakistan, for Facebook help in investigate any instances of "blasphemous content" posted on the social network by Pakistanis. Definition of Blasphemy? Anything that upsets any mullah or politician of even a politicians bodyguard.

Facebook has apparently foolishly agreed to pander to these demands, and has sent a team to Pakistan to address their complaints about content posted by their own citizens and others, on the social media site.

Of course the 'blasphemy' laws in Pakistan are little more than an excuse persecute, and often cruelly murder any religious minority the majority want to attack (including the Shia Muslims), but as usual we in the West turn a blind eye to this, and pretend that its actually acceptable in their society.

In the meantime the weak Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has said that he wants a wide-ranging crackdown on 'blasphemous content' on social media. He has described blasphemy as an "unpardonable offence". His Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar agreed, and said he would take "any steps necessary" to make sure Pakistan's message got across .... like anyone should care about this.

Then it got ridiculous (as is often the case when dealing with this culture - see Turkey's misuse of the terms 'Crusader', 'Genocide', and 'Nazi' to the Dutch in the last 3 weeks, to see how casual hyperbole is cast without regard for the consequences), when they said that they have requested that their officials liaise with the FBI in the US, and with social media platforms, on 'a daily basis'. As if the FBI in the US are going to police the Internet in Pakistan on their behalf (and incidentally provide a death list of people who can be arrested and then probably killed by a mob).... self important, self inflated, buffoons and idiots are the phrases that come to mind when listening to these people.

"Facebook and other service providers should share all information about the people behind this blasphemous content with us," the Interior Minister is quoted as demanding. Pandora's Box comes to mind (not that they would understand that allusion, as its not inside their little tiny window of interests). You open the box, and you can't put back what you let out .... the Islamic world is having the 21st century rammed down its throat via technology, and is not finding it a palatable mouthful.

The Lesson Of Opening Pandora's Box Not Learnt By Everyone ...
The Lesson Of  Opening Pandora's Box Not Learnt By Everyone ...

Why we tolerate and kowtow to any ridiculous social convention that they demand, is quite frankly beyond me. Forcing them to behave within civilised rules and as they want us to treat them, would be far more effective.

We reap what we sow, and no mistake ....

  1. Just a quick addition. The madness that these biased blasphemy laws create and allow has reached another low milestone, with the news that two young students at Abdul Wali Khan University in the northern city of Mardan, were accused of posting offensive content on Facebook by other students.

A vigilante mob (Hundreds of people were involved according to police reports), of their fellow students formed and attacked and tortured them. One Mashal Khan, who was studying journalism was killed, while the other survived with bad injuries.

The mob filmed their virtuous murderous activities and posted the killing on-line. Many students have been arrested .... although Pakistan has a poor record of convicting perpetrators.

The dead man, although a Muslim was known to hold liberal and secular views. He is at least the 66th person murdered since 1990, in so called anti-blasphemy attacks by the ignorant backward mobs that inhabit that country.

They actually think that they are morally superior to us.
